The lawsuit stems from the death of 41-year-old Joe Fisher, who was killed near Topsham in July 2020.

PORTLAND, ME — The family of a Maine man who was hit and killed by a box truck on Interstate 295 is suing Amazon, claiming both the company and the contractor driving the truck were negligent.
The lawsuit stems from the death of 41-year-old Joe Fisher, who was killed near Topsham in July 2020, according to a WGME report. Fisher had pulled over to secure something in the back of his vehicle and was struck by a box truck driven by 42-year-old Nasser Tibaijuka.
The lawsuit is suing Amazon as well as two trucking companies contracted for shipments, WGME reported. In the suit, Fisher's family claims Tibaijuka was distracted by his cell phone before the crash and the company he worked for had a history of safety violations.
