Over the last week, there has been a slight increase in COVID cases in the district, including multiple cases from one cohort at GMS 4-5. This is a reminder to remain vigilant with regards to COVID safety such as daily symptom screening before leaving home. At school, we continue to emphasize best practices for hygiene, such as handwashing and use of sanitizer, weekly pooled testing for 55% of our students who are enrolled in this program to date, face masking while indoors, and social distancing when it is feasible to do so.
We need continued help when our school nurses request a doctor's note and/or negative COVID test when your child is out with COVID-related symptoms. The school's efforts in making these requests are to ensure that our school community remains a safe environment for all students and staff. We recognize that this may be a hassle and inconvenience at times, and want nothing more than to have your child return to school as quickly as possible, but we also must uphold our commitment to keeping our schools as least disrupted by COVID as possible.
