Visitors will have the opportunity to see the Portland Fire Department’s 251 year history with two floors of exhibits with many photos, two hand-pump fire engines, a hose reel carriage, and a 1938 McCann motor pumper.

Two horses will return to the horse stalls inside the firehouse. Historic Portland Fire Department videos will be shown, including the 1912 film showing Portland’s firefighters and horse-drawn apparatus leaving and returning to neighborhood firehouses on the peninsula.

The National Fire Prevention Week begins Sunday, October 6th through the 12th, and Fire Prevention Educational handouts and material will be available for children.

Donations are accepted, which helps support the museum and to preserve its artifacts for future generations to see.
