Shooting Under Investigation In Portland's Old Port: Police
Police say a man was arrested for disorderly conduct Thursday only to return to Old Port, where he was later shot.

PORTLAND, ME — A man was shot Thursday in Portland's Old Port district after he was arrested earlier in the day for fighting with a security guard, according to police.
Around 9:40 p.m., a Portland police officer was patrolling near 43 Wharf St. when they witnessed a man fighting with a security guard who had removed him from a nearby business, police said in a news release.
Though the officer separated the man and the security guard, the man was arrested after he returned and started another fight, according to police. The man was cited for disorderly conduct and released from police custody, authorities said.

Around 11:45 p.m., police returned to 43 Wharf St. for a report of a shooting, authorities said. When officers arrived, they discovered the man who had been arrested earlier had returned and had been shot, according to police. The man was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
