Small Plane Crashes At Portland Jetport; 2 Injured
The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m., prompting airport officials to divert several other flights.
PORTLAND, ME — Two people were injured Friday when the small plane crashed at the Portland Jetport shortly after taking off, according to officials.
The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m., a spokesperson for the city of Portland said in a statement.
The plane, a small Cessna carrying two passengers, "broke apart" when it landed, airport director Paul Bradbury told the Portland Press Herald. The plane also caught fire, according to the city.

The Portland Fire Department responded to the crash. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and provided medical aid to both victims before they were taken to the hospital.

The runway reopened and airport operations resumed shortly before 5 p.m., officials said.
