• Maine man charged with killing roommate in Westbrook to serve 22 years as part of plea deal (wmtw.com) — A Westbrook resident’s 2024 death on Lamb Street has led to a 22-year manslaughter sentence for his former roommate, following a plea deal that reduced the original murder charge. Police and state investigators tied the fatal blunt-force injuries to a November 911 call from their shared apartment, and the defendant will also serve concurrent time for an animal cruelty conviction.
   

• Several Subway franchise locations in Maine shut down over registration issues (wgme.com) — Subway’s Westbrook shop at 615 Main Street was abruptly shut down Wednesday after state officials revoked the franchise’s business registration, part of a wider closure of several Maine locations. Employees across the chain say paychecks have bounced and deposits were delayed, while company leaders insist the shutdowns are temporary and under review.
