Students in Maine are stepping outside the classroom as experiential education expands (wmtw.com) — Westbrook Middle School’s outdoor learning program is reshaping how local students learn, from planting apple trees to building greenhouses. Their success helped inspire new state legislation that funds outdoor education coordinators, making hands-on, nature-based learning more accessible for schools across Maine and potentially deepening opportunities for Westbrook families.

Subway restaurants formerly closed by state reopen (newscentermaine.com) — If you rely on the Subway in Westbrook, it’s open again after Maine Revenue Services briefly revoked registrations for several franchise locations over a tax issue. An employee says the registrations were reinstated and the affected restaurants, including Westbrook’s, are now back in business.

Saint Joseph's Men Turn in Record Jumps and Relay Win at USM Alumni Open (gomonks.com) — A Saint Joseph’s College men’s track and field athlete from Westbrook, sophomore thrower Anthony Vasquez, helped lead a deep throws squad at the USM Alumni Open in Gorham. The Monks posted school records in hurdles and long jump, a relay win, and several New England Division III qualifying marks across sprints, jumps, and distance events, signaling a strong start to their indoor season.
   

4. Hallowell residents say they haven't gotten mail for weeks (wgme.com) — Mail delivery problems reported in several Maine towns, including Westbrook, mean some residents say they haven’t received letters, checks, or medications for weeks. While one Hallowell resident shares her story, CBS13 notes similar complaints from Westbrook, Raymond, and Palermo, raising concerns about a broader USPS service disruption.
