Ferrous Named Top New York-Penn League Mascot in Competition
Voting in the championship round continues through Aug. 8.
This week, the Aberdeen IronBirds mascot proved his...metal, if you will.
Ferrous was named the best mascot in the New York-Penn League as part of Minor League Baseball's Mascot Mania contest, the IronBirds announced Friday.
“Ferrous is very appreciative of the fans’ support,” Shawny Hill, the IronBirds’ on-field emcee, said in a release that described him as Ferrous' "close confidant." “Without the support from a great baseball town such as Aberdeen, he would not have received such an honor.”

Ferrous now faces 13 other minor league mascots in the championship round. Voting continues online through Aug. 8.
