Men Posing As Surveyors Burglarize Aberdeen Home

Police believe two men distracted an elderly couple in Aberdeen while someone else broke into their home and stole property.

An Aberdeen home was burglarized Wednesday while two men claiming to be surveyors distracted the elderly residents.

Around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, a couple living in the 100 block of Paradise Road told police their home had been burglarized, according to a release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The couple, described by police as elderly, explained that two men pulled up in a large, newer model, silver pickup truck and knocked on the door earlier in the afternoon, the release states.

The men told the couple they were surveying the area and workers would soon be out to mark lines. The men talked to the couple, led them behind the house and continued conversation for about 30 minutes before leaving, police said.

When the couple went back inside, they noticed parts of the house were disheveled and cash, jewelry and personal items had been stolen.

Deputies searched the area, but found no suspects.

Investigators believe the two men were in on the burglary and were not surveyors at all. The first man is described as 5-foot-10, about 30 years old, with tan skin and dark hair. The second man is described as shorter than the first man, about 38 years old and also tan.

Anyone with information about the burglary can contact the sheriff's office criminal investigation division, 410-836-5442.
