9K-Gallon Sewage Spill Into Spa Creek Reported
County health officials issued a warning for a portion of Spa Creek in Annapolis after a 9,000-gallon sewage spill was reported.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A sewage spill into Spa Creek happened Wednesday and has been treated, Anne Arundel County Department of Health officials said Thursday.
Health officials issued a warning for Spa Creek at Hilltop Road and Boxwood Road to the end of Truxton Park. The 9,000-gallon sewage spill happened about 1:45 p.m. and was caused by a grease blockage within the City of Annapolis.
The blockage was resolved and the problem corrected, an email from the health department said.

The area has been treated with lime and warning signage is posted. Health officials warn residents to avoid direct water contact in the area until Jan. 14.
People who come in contact with the tainted water should wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should also be washed, experts said.
