Annapolis Parking Meters Get Digital Upgrade
Downtown parkers can now pay with credit cards or coins.
Downtown Annapolis parking just got a little more convenient with the addition of digital parking meters this week.
The new, electronic meters allow patrons to pay with coins or credit cards, for a maximum of two hours. Replacement of more than 380 meters began Tuesday morning, and is expected to be completed from Historic Annapolis to inner West Street by Thursday.
With the installation of the new meters, the city is also raising its parking rates from $1 per hour to $2 per hour, according to city spokesperson Rhonda Wardlaw.
"The whole idea is to give downtown parkers more options. We feel this will go along with the mayor's initiative to make parking easier for everyone," Wardlaw said.
A video of how to use the new parking meters is available online.
