Christmas Eve, Dec. 26 Holiday Status Change For MD State Employees

Gov. Moore has issued holiday and liberal leave orders for Maryland state employees on Christmas Eve and Dec. 26. Here's what to know.

ANNAPOLIS, MD Gov. Wes Moore has issued holiday and liberal leave orders for Maryland state employees that apply to Christmas Eve and Friday, Dec. 26.

On Monday, Moore declared that Maryland state government agencies and offices will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 24, in observance of Christmas Eve. State offices will also be closed for Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Liberal leave will be in effect for state employees on Friday, Dec. 26.

“Declaring Christmas Eve as a state holiday is a small way to show our gratitude to Maryland’s dedicated public servants,” Moore said in a statement. “May all Marylanders across the state cherish meaningful holiday time with their friends, family, and loved ones.”

Under the declaration, Dec. 24 will be treated like any other state employee holiday.
