What does the local hero do?

She does end of life and memory care.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Teri serves with kindness and compassion. She is a certified end of life doula. She works with families and those aging in the later chapters of their lives. She helps people find peace and feel cared for. She is also trained to work with individuals and their families as they navigate memory loss.

In addition to her to following her calling to work with memory loss patients and those on their final journeys in this world, it has been important to her to volunteer. We met her as she led two weekly support groups for cancer patients through the Wellness House of Annapolis. Meetings were in person until Covid 19 became a factor and then the meetings were held over Zoom. These group meetings were lifelines for many of the patients and Teri compassionately facilitated as people shared their experiences, learned from one another and built a community to help them survive cancer. The amount of time and the consistent commitment week after week were efforts you would expect of paid professionals.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

She has the most generous heart. Everyone needs a Teri in their lives.

Thank you for all you do, Teri Gibbons-Jacobson!
