Beloved MD Spot Named Among Best Ice Cream Shops In U.S.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Only a dozen ice cream shops across the country made a new list from Fodor's Travel — and a Maryland classic is among them.

Annapolis Ice Cream Company, which has an Edgewater location as well as the site in Annapolis at 196 Main St., got the nod from the travel guide.

Fodor's said about Annapolis Ice Cream Company: "There’s a solid reason why Annapolis Ice Cream Company has been voted the local favorite for over 20 consecutive years; the Main Street institution peddles the creamiest scoops fresh each day, using only natural and organic ingredients. The shop has over 200 different flavors on rotation, which depend on ingredient seasonality, such as the cherry pie and the strawberry ice cream, both swirled with fresh fruit. Ice cream cakes are also available."

The business operates five shops branded as Always Ice Cream Company in West Annapolis, Edgewater, Baltimore, Gambrills and Severna Park. Each of those locations has opened since July 2021.

Always Ice Cream also owns the Annapolis Ice Cream Company and the Daily Scoop in Pasadena.

The business plans to open an eighth location this fall in Prince Frederick.

The company was founded by two New England natives who missed the homemade ice cream of their childhood and were surprised that Annapolis lacked a similar product. They built Annapolis Ice Cream Company to capture the rich ice cream history of New England in the scenic, historic city of Annapolis. We are the only ice cream in Annapolis made-on-site daily in the city!"

Other shops that made Fodor's list include Toscanini's in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Sugarwitch in St. Louis, Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, and An's Dry Cleaning in San Diego.
