City Hall Facelift Underway
The front of Annapolis City Hall is getting some architectural improvements this week as part of an overall renovation at the downtown building.
You may see some renovation work outside Annapolis City Hall while driving down Duke of Gloucester Street over the next few weeks.
As part of an overall renovation at City Hall that started in 2011, the building is receiving structural and architectural improvements, including touch-up work, according to Public Works Director David Jarrell.
"Phase 2 is the architectural and structural improvements, giving it an overall facelift and repairing some of the broken bones in the building," he said.
Phase 2 also includes updating the City Council's meeting chambers with new technology, a new coat of paint, and streamlined visuals. Unfortunately that also involved removing nearly all of the artwork, including the colorful pieces depicting Annapolis in colonial times. That art is being stored at Maryland Hall, Jarrell said.
