A Fourth of July experience for everyone

The children's Fourth of July bike parade in Admiral Heights attracted a wide range of spectators.

The children’s Fourth of July bike parade in Admiral Heights attracted a wide range of spectators. Babies at their first Fourth of July parade, Admiral Heights residents of more than 40 years, and many residents in-between watched the event. Extended families – grandparents, children, grandchildren – all turned out for the event.

Alderwoman Karma O’Neill and some of the bikers volunteered to lead the pledge of allegiance which was followed by bikes, wagons and scooters taking off along the parade route.

Shorts, T-shirts, headgear and glasses were red, white and blue. Bikes, wagons and scooters were similarly decorated.

The parade was followed by ice cream and talking to representatives of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County fire and police departments. At least one youngster declared right then and there that she would like to be a firefighter someday.

Thanks to the volunteer board members of the Admiral Heights Improvement Association for sponsoring this family-oriented event.
