Funeral For Law Enforcement Veteran Scheduled In Anne Arundel County
The funeral for a late deputy is scheduled for Friday in Annapolis. The deputy had a heart attack on duty after 30 years in law enforcement.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The funeral for a deputy who died on duty is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Annapolis. The Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office identified the late deputy as Scott C. McArdle.
McArdle reported for work Sunday morning and started to feel sick around 7 a.m. He drove himself to the emergency room at the Anne Arundel Medical Center and died during treatment, the sheriff's office said.
The agency later announced that McArdle had a heart attack.

"Deputy Sheriff McArdle was a tremendous asset to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office and will be sorely missed," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.
McCardle retired after 25 years of service with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. He then joined the sheriff's office in October 2017 and served nearly five years with the agency.

Working for the sheriff’s office, McArdle first served in the Transportation and Detention Unit. He eventually transferred to the Field Operations Bureau, where he served court documents related to domestic violence.
McArdle was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Anne Arundel County Lodge No. 106.
"The Sheriff’s Office will remain in contact with the McArdle family during this difficult time," the agency said. "Please join Sheriff Jim Fredericks in praying for the family and keeping them in your thoughts during this time of need."
Funeral Arrangements
McArdle's funeral will be at St. John Neumann Church, which is located at 620 N. Bestgate Road. Officials expect law enforcement from around the state to attend.
The funeral may affect traffic on and around Bestgate Road from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
A police escort will lead the funeral procession from the church around 1:15 p.m. The procession will drive to McArdle's grave at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, located in Crownsville at 1122 Sunrise Beach Road.
The escort will travel from Bestgate Road to Generals Highway to Sunrise Beach Road. There may be minor delays along the route.
The Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police will handle the escort. The Anne Arundel County Police Department will control traffic.
