Hour-by-Hour to Feels Like 110 Degrees: Maryland Weather Forecast

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Residents will be asked again to stay in air-conditioned environments and in the shade when outside for another day. The heat index, or "feels like" temperature across the region could hit 110 degrees on Sunday.

An excessive heat warning is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for portions of Maryland. An excessive heat warning means a prolonged period of dangerously high temperatures is forecasted, with heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses expected.

The warning area includes Patch communities in Prince Georges and Anne Arundel counties, along with southern Baltimore County, central and southeast Montgomery County, southeast Howard County and southeast Harford County. See more.

The rest of the region is under an excessive heat watch, according to the National Weather Service. A watch means heat-related illnesses are possible.

The heat index is expected to hit 100 degrees by 11 a.m. and reach up to 109 degrees by 4 p.m., according to the weather service. Unlike Saturday's heat, with dangerous temps lingering into the night, Sunday's forecast has temperatures dropping near sunset.

11 a.m.: 101 degrees
noon: 102 degrees
1 p.m.: 106 degrees
2 p.m: 107 degrees
3 p.m.: 109 degrees
4 p.m.: 110 degrees
5 p.m.: 106 degrees
6 p.m.: 105 degrees
7 p.m.: 100 degrees
8 p.m.: 96 degrees

Heat tips include:

• Rescheduling strenuous activity to early morning or evening
• Knowing the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke
• Wearing light and loose fitting clothing
• Drinking plenty of water

Those working outside should take frequent breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned environment. "Heat stroke is an emergency - call 911," the weather service warns.

The forecast for the start of the week has the heat index reaching 100 degrees on Monday and 99 degrees on Tuesday. The temperatures start cooling slightly on Wednesday and the high will be around 90 degrees by the weekend.
