Food Trucks Now On Menu At Columbia Gateway

Food trucks are officially part of the scenery at Columbia Gateway. Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman greeted the trucks as they arrived at the business park, a location that is becoming an “Innovation District.”

Columbia Gateway is home to more than 400 businesses and 26,000 employees. The 884-acre industrial and office park, located near Interstate 95 at MD 175, contains a mixture of established and startup companies.

DWI Checkpoint in Harford County Coming This Week: Sheriff

There will be a checkpoint this week in Harford County where deputies will be looking for those driving while intoxicated (DWI). The DWI checkpoint will be held the night of Friday, April 7, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have not disclosed the location where the checkpoint will occur, but the legal blood alcohol level inMaryland is .08 percent.

Maryland Fracking Ban Makes History

A law signed by Maryland's governor makes the state the third in the nation to ban fracking of natural gas, but it is the first state with proven gas reserves to take that action. Governor Larry Hogan signed HB 1325, which bans hydraulic fracturing — or “fracking” — in Maryland. The State Senate and House of Delegates overwhelmingly supported the ban before the bill hit the governor’s desk.

Father's Essay Sheds Light On Daughter's Heroin Addiction, Overdose Death

Alexis “Lex” Fusz, formerly of Bartlett, died at the age of 25 from a heroin overdose after years of struggling to overcome her addiction to the drug. Her death on Dec. 11, 2016, shook her family. Lex’s father, Gary Fusz, shared an essay with Patch, describing Lex’s struggles with heroin addiction and means to get the word out about the dangers of the drug.

Deale Natives Brothers Osborne Win 2 ACM Awards

Deale natives and musicians the Brothers Osborne snagged two awards Sunday night at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. The Anne Arundel County natives, who now call Nashville home, won awards for “best vocal duo” and “new vocal duo or group.” John and TJ Osborne performed their newest single, “It Ain’t My Fault,” at the awards show.
