Naval Academy Water Polo Teams Seize National Titles

Teens from Annapolis and Broadneck took the national water polo championship title last month.

Continuing a legacy of success, two teams from the Naval Academy's Aquatic Club took the national championships in water polo in July.

The two 18-and-under teams competed against the best of the best while at the 2013 American Water Polo National State Challenge in Pennsylvania.

Both the girls and boys team took national titles, and a $1,000 check. For the boys, it's the fourth time in the past five seasons they've took the top spot, and for the girls, their second consecutive national title.

Many of the team's members hail from Broadneck and Annapolis. For more information on the club, visit its website.

The aquatic club bears the name of the Naval Academy, but is not officially affiliated with the U.S. Naval Academy, according to representatives from the Navy. However, the team does train at the academy's pools in MacDonough Hall.
