Online Fundraiser for Injured Annapolis Teen Nets $2,200 in 2 Days

An online fundraising site has raised more than $2,000 to pay for the medical bills of a 17-year-old critically injured in a car crash over the weekend.

Eric Aguilar, 17, was among three injured in a Sunday morning wreck at the intersection of Spa and Harness Creek roads, according to a police report. He was hospitalized in critical condition after his vehicle struck a tree. According to the police report, Aguilar failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway while traveling at an excessive speed.

To help pay for his medical bills, The Family and Friends of Eric Hospital Funds was created on YouCaring.com. The website raised $2,209 as of 3 p.m. Tuesday—less than 48 hours since the website went live. The amount is just under half of its stated $5,000 goal, with 49 more days to go.

"This fund was created to help our dear friend Eric and his family with his medical bills. Any support no matter how minimal it is will help. Thank you for support with this cause," according to the fundraiser's description.

Some donation amounts are not disclosed, but others range from $40 to $200. More than 40 people have contributed to the cause so far.
