Pedestrian Fatally Struck By State Trooper In Anne Arundel County: Police

A state trooper fatally struck a pedestrian in Anne Arundel County. Authorities haven't identified the 32-year-old woman.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A pedestrian died after a state police car struck her Sunday in Annapolis, authorities said.

Troopers are waiting to identify the 32-year-old female pedestrian until they contact her next of kin.

Police said the pedestrian entered the roadway unexpectedly in an area without a crosswalk.

An unmarked 2016 Ford Explorer SUV from the Maryland State Police hit the pedestrian around 7:30 p.m. on northbound Solomons Island Road at U.S. Route 50, authorities said.

A press release said the uninjured driver, a Maryland State Police trooper, immediately gave first aid and requested assistance.

Anne Arundel County medics pronounced the pedestrian dead on the scene, authorities said.

The Maryland State Police is still investigating the cause of the crash and conducting an administrative review of the case in accordance with normal protocol. The agency will then present its findings to the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office.
