Annapolis Police: Glass Defeats Brick In Attempted Burglary

The window held together even though a brick cracked it, police said.

Annapolis police said a would-be burglar tossed a brick at a store window but fled when the window did not shatter.

A gift store shop in the 100 block of Main Street had its side door window smashed by a suspect overnight Monday. The glass cracked, but did not break apart, and the suspect did not gain entry into the business, according to a police report.

The window was double-pane with laminate in the middle, according to the report.

"The suspect went through the efforts of removing the brick and hiding it away from the scene, because it was recovered behind the building," according to the report.

No suspect description was available.

In other Annapolis crime news, police reported two thefts from vehicles.

A gold and diamond tennis bracelet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the unit block of Boxwood Road, and two boy's bicycles were taken from the rear of the residence, according to a report.

An undisclosed amount of money, a GPS unit and CDs were taken from an apparently unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Carriage Run Road.
