Police: Man Charged in Church Burglary

An Ocean Pines man was released on his own recognizance, according to Annapolis police.

Police Monday night charged an Ocean Pines man with breaking into an Annapolis church.

Police responded to an alarm at 11:54 p.m. in the 900 block of Cedar Park Road. Officers heard a door slamming and saw a man walking away from the front doors. 

Police found that the doors were broken and four window screens were ripped. A wallet was found near a stairwell to the church, according to police.

Police charged the man who owned the wallet with fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property.

In a separate incident, a handicap placard was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 900 block of Bay Ridge Road between 2 and 2:40 p.m. Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
