Police: 3 Men Rob Main Street Jewelry Store

Officers say the men robbed the La Belle Cezanne Jewelers in downtown Annapolis.

The Annapolis Police Department arrested three men in connection to the robbery of a jewelry store on Main Street on Tuesday, and said at least two of the men lied to officers about their identities.

Police said the three men stole more than $12,000 in jewelry from La Belle Cezanne Jewelers, but were caught after store employees provided a description of their car.

All three men were from out of state, and at least one man had four outstanding warrants, according to police.

Officers received a call shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, initially reporting only suspicious activity at the store. They later got a second call from store employees claiming that jewelry was taken from the store, with directions on where to find the suspects. Officers also received a cell phone picture of the suspects' vehicle.

Based on that information, police performed a traffic stop of a Land Rover with Tennessee license plates. One officer reported that he could see some jewelry on the floor of the vehicle, and that some jewelry fell out of a man's pocket when he got out of the car. Police then got a warrant to search the rest of the vehicle and found 13 items that belonged to the La Belle Cezanne Jewelers. Items recovered included cufflinks, tie tacks and rings.
