Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
Kurt and Lila just celebrated 25 years of owning Heroes Pub. The business itself celebrates local heroes daily - law enforcement, fire & rescue, military, etc. They are in a "constant state of service". Most recently, during the pandemic, they provided meals to essential workers, as well as organized a local outdoor vendor market. Each time they held the market, they used the opportunity to raise money for a local charity. Each time raising thousands of dollars for that cause. When the tornado hit Annapolis, they once again raised money for local businesses that were severely affected by the tornado.
The local vendor market then became a monthly Farmer's Market, giving local farmers and other small businesses a great outlet to grow their businesses and reach new customers.
When a fire hit Sailor Oyster Bar in Annapolis, they once again jumped to the cause, selling shirts and hosting an event to raise money for Sailor. That effort raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Sailor Oyster Bar recovery effort.
Kurt also sits on the board of directors for the Chesapeake K9 Fund, an organization that helps fund service dogs for the local law enforcement and fire & rescue communities.
Kurt and Lila are always finding ways to give back to local businesses and local heroes and have built a community of like-minded people that are always looking to support others.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
