MARYLAND — A strawberry festival is coming to Maryland and so are two fishing events. At one of those outings, residents can fish for invasive snakeheads. Locals can also visit a historic town on the Eastern Shore or participate in a statewide photo contest.
Patch recently partnered with several local organizations to bring you their latest news. This guest contribution comes from National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways and Chesapeake Conservancy. Here's what Jody Hedeman Couser submitted to help you explore the Chesapeake Bay:

"A Paddling, Biking, History Adventure
It had to be an organizational challenge to pack up boats, bikes, and [a] bike trailer for the pup, but it all paid off this fine spring day on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Saki was asked to combine some paddling near Sharptown, Maryland and a look-see into the fascinating history of a town shrouded in mystery. San Domingo was intentionally founded in a remote area to allow its first inhabitants, free Blacks, to live and work together in a mostly self-sufficient community that remained hidden from outsiders.
