New Restaurant Offers American, Caribbean Favorites At Marley Station Mall

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Comfort food and tropical cuisine lovers have a new dining option at Marley Station Mall. A catering business expanded recently, opening a restaurant offering American cuisine with an island twist.

Thelma's Kitchen & Catering opened on Dec. 14, 2024, at the Glen Burnie mall next to the movie theater. Opening weekend drew a long line of eager customers, a video recap showed.

"My life in the kitchen began with my grandmother, an inspiration whose presence I still feel with me today as I cook. The aromas that fill my kitchen evoke memories of her love and warmth embedded in every dish. At Thelma’s Kitchen & Catering, every meal is a testament to the power of love and food to bring people together, always tasting like home," the restaurant said on Facebook on Dec. 30, 2024.

The menu features Caribbean favorites like curry chicken, Jamaican-style oxtails and teriyaki lamb chops. American staples include candied yams, wings and chicken tenders.

Customer Olivia Yates was "absolutely blown away" by the honey-glazed salmon, fried cabbage and mac and cheese. She also applauded the "genuine hospitality." Yates thinks the "cozy and inviting" atmosphere made it "the perfect place for a family meal."

"The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned," Yates said on Facebook on Jan. 5. "Beyond the food, the customer service was exceptional. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I even had the pleasure of chatting with the owners, a wonderful husband-and-wife duo, who are genuinely kind and passionate about their restaurant."

Thelma's Kitchen is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday hours are noon to 6 p.m. The eatery is closed Monday and Tuesday.

"Let me tell you, this food was as good as I knew it would be. You better run not walk to get you some! Jerk Chicken was amazing and my coworkers loved it as well and the beef patties," Columbia resident Andrea Colbet said on Facebook on Dec. 19, 2024.
