- American Red Cross Blood Drives — There is a need for volunteers to help with greeting blood donors, serving refreshments and providing excellent customer service. Blood drives are situated throughout Anne Arundel County as well as at the Glen Burnie Donor Center. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older, complete an application, and attend a training session. Volunteers over 18 years of age will require a background check. - Annapolis Police Department Auxiliary Officer Program — The Annapolis Police Department is looking for volunteer, uniformed Auxiliary Officers to render assistance to the police department in various capacities. The Auxiliary Officer shall render volunteer police services such as Traffic Control, Fingerprinting, Administrative Duties, Dignitary Details and Community Relations Functions. The Auxiliary Officer is not compensated monetarily, is not authorized to carry weapons, and is not vested with arrest authority. Uniforms and transportation will be furnished for official duties, and police procedure training will be provided in both formal classroom and on-the-job training sessions. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, be a United States Citizen, have no felony convictions or serious misdemeanor convictions, possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and have a good driving record. He or she must be capable of providing a minimum of 10 hours of service each month, have a telephone, be in good physical condition and must agree to a background investigation, a fingerprint check, a drug screening test, and an oral interview. - Arundel High School, Mock Job Interviews, Feb. 24-25, 2015 — Adult volunteers are needed to conduct Mock Job Interviews on February 24–25, 2015 for 11th-grade English students.at Arundel High School, 1001 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD 21054. Time slots coincide with class periods and run from7:15am to 2 pm. - Arundel Lodge — Arundel Lodge, Inc. partners with individuals and families to improve behavioral health through recovery-oriented services. Arundel Lodge has a Residential Rehabilitation and Day Program to provide specialized housing and behavioral health services. Current volunteer opportunities include help with collecting and assembling toiletry kits (which include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.) for individuals in our Residential Program. In addition volunteers are needed to help in April or May to repaint two residences. Needed are painters, lunch leaders, site coaches and other volunteers. Wall prep experience a plus. Individuals or groups welcome. Also needed are volunteers with computer knowledge to help in the computer lab. GED tutors are also needed. - Calvert Animal Welfare League — The organization located in Prince Frederick operates a state-of-the-art adoption and education center. Volunteers age 14 and up with adult supervision are needed for 2 shifts daily of animal care, to provide foster homes, and as administrative support for short and long term projects. - Civil Air Patrol, Annapolis Composite Squadron — The Annapolis Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol offers challenging opportunities for youths 12-18 years old, aerospace education enthusiasts and adults with an interest in search and rescue, homeland security, disaster relief and humanitarian missions. Leadership training, technical education and an opportunity to participate in aviation-related activities are just a few of the exciting benefits of CAP membership. Also, during weekends in the summer the squadron flies over the Chesapeake Bay looking for boats in distress and provides eyes in the skies for the Natural Resources Police and the Coast Guard. We need adults to assist with cadets programs, administration, personnel, emergency services as well as cadets age 12-18 to participate in the cadet program. - Start The Adventure In Reading - Annapolis Inc. (STAIR) — Start The Adventure In Reading, is a proven reading and mentoring program designed to provide early intervention for at-risk second grade students in Annapolis. STAIR is looking for adult volunteers willing to tutor second grade students attending Annapolis City Public Schools twice a week for one hour after school during the school year. The tutor works with the same student for the entire year. All tutoring is focused on increasing reading skills using an educator-approved curriculum. - Watershed Stewards Academy (WSA) — WSA trains and supports community leaders called Master Watershed Stewards to help their communities reduce pollution and restore their waterways.
