AACC Officials Warn of Low Enrollment, Budget Shortfall
A 17.4 percent drop in projected enrollment could create a large budget shortfall for the college.

An enrollment decline at Anne Arundel Community College could create a multi-million-dollar budget deficit.
The Capital Gazette reports enrollment for this fall's semester is down 17.4 percent, officials announced at a trustees meeting.
The college is projected for 10,178 full-time equivalent students this fall, just under 2,000 less than planned in its budget, according to the report. That could create a budget shortfall of more than $6.1 million that won't be coming in via tuition and fees.
Officials are looking at ways to cut corners, including evaluating enrollment in classes taught by adjuncts (who are hired as needed) and by not filling vacant positions, according to the report.
In May, USA Today reported community college enrollment was on the decline nationwide
