AACo Residents Turn In 213 Pounds Of Prescription Drugs
The Anne Arundel police received hundreds of expired medication bottles Saturday in DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative.

MILLERSVILLE, MD — Residents of Anne Arundel County turned in several hundred bottles of expired and unused medications on Saturday, April 27, during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
About 213 pounds of prescription medications were collected at each of the county’s four police districts and police headquarters in Millersville, the police said.
These medications were turned over to the DEA for proper disposal. Each collection site was staffed with a representative from the Police Department as well as a DEA investigator to answer any questions or concerns about medications getting into the wrong hands and the abuse of prescribed medication.

Residents were informed of the harm caused by flushing the unused medication down the toilet and how it affects the water, septic systems, the environment and overall public safety.
Residents are reminded that there are drop boxes for unused medications in the lobby of each of Anne Arundel's four police districts. These drop boxes are available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Anne Arundel Police headquarters in Millersville also has a drop box in the lobby available fr0m 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. The boxes are provided so that unused medications can be disposed of in a safe manner.
