Anne Arundel County Resident Named to School Safety Board

An Anne Arundel County resident was named today to a state school safety board.

Valerie S. Carr, a bus driver in Prince George's County, was nominated by Gov. Martin O'Malley to serve as the representative of school bus drivers on the Maryland Center for School Safety Governing Board. The board, created by legislation that passed this year's General Assembly session, works with school and law enforcement to set best practices, gather data and provide training.

Carr has been in Prince George's County schools' transportation department for 25 years. She was previously in bookkeeping for a local construction firm, according to a release.
