Anne Arundel Under Flood Warning: UPDATE
More rain is in the forecast Tuesday, with flooding possible in Anne Arundel County, the National Weather Service advised.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — A flood warning is in effect until 11:15 p.m. Tuesday for much of the region, including Anne Arundel County. According to unofficial data submitted to the National Weather Service, some rain fell overnight: By 2 a.m., BWI reported 0.95 inch of rain, Severn reported 0.9 inch of precipitation and Severn had 0.72 inch. Some afternoon showers and thunderstorms could bring may rainfall of up to 3 inches an hour.
At 5:17 p.m. stream gauges indicate flooding is occurring on the Patapsco River at Elkridge. Other streams in the area may also be experiencing flooding. Some locations that may experience flooding include Elkridge, Catonsville, Arbutus, Brooklyn Park, Pumphrey, Ilchester, Linthicum, Lansdowne, Halethorpe and Linthicum Heights.
The area was earlier under a flash flood watch, which means that there is the potential for flash flooding, which can be life-threatening. Heavy rain in a short time can lead to flash flooding, or a rapid rise in water level.

Creeks, streams and urban areas are particularly vulnerable to potential flooding, especially because the ground is already saturated. Drivers and pedestrians should be cautious and if they see standing water of unknown depth, turn around; don't drown.
