Baxter Tire & Auto Celebrates 25th Anniversary

John Baxter and his family have been serving Pasadena's auto needs for more than two decades.

Representatives from local government and community members came together Wednesday afternoon to celebrate 's 25th year in Pasadena.

"I bring my car and I have since I was 16 years old," said District 31 Delegate Nic Kipke."These folks are honest and I think their reputation is why they're so successful."

"I brought my first car here, a 1979 Chevette," added Kipke. "I like to think I'll be around in another 25 years to keep bringing my car here!"

Owner John Baxter said the store opened on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1986. 

"The Pennysaver was coming out Wednesday talking about our grand opening, but they messed up and put it in the following week's! The first day I made $600 worth of business by mistake-people just came by accident," Baxter said.

The Baxters received certificates of appreciation from local government, Sheriff Ron Bateman and the Pasadena Business Association.

"John makes you feel like you're the only customer he has," said Bateman. "He talks to you and he waits on you like you're his only customer. It's a really good feeling and it's customer service on a level that you've never seen before.

"You're got to love it," added Bateman.
