Fatal Crash In Anne Arundel County Claims 37-Year-Old Driver: Police
A fatal crash in Anne Arundel County claimed a driver's life, police said. He was 37.

LAUREL, MD — A single-vehicle crash in Laurel claimed a man's life early Wednesday morning, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.
Officers identified the victim as 37-year-old Jeff Charles of Laurel.
Authorities said the accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Laurel Fort Meade Road, also known as Maryland Route 198, at Laurel Racetrack Road.

Charles was driving a 2019 Jeep Wrangler west on Laurel Fort Meade Road, police said.
Officers said, for unknown reasons, the car crossed onto the wrong side of the street and continued driving against traffic in the eastbound part of the roadway.

Authorities said the Jeep jumped a curb, hit a guardrail, started to overturn and came to a rest off of the roadway.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department pronounced Charles dead on the scene, police said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, officers said.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
