Frost Advisory Issued As MD Prepares For Chilly Night, Mid-Week Storms

Move your plants inside! A frost advisory was issued in Maryland. Mid-week storms could bring high wind and more April showers.

MARYLAND — A frost advisory was issued for much of Maryland for early Tuesday morning. The temperature drop could be followed by warmer days and windy mid-week storms.

The frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday, with lows reaching 34 degrees in some places. The alert covers most of the Interstate 95 corridor, including the Baltimore and Washington suburbs.

"Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered," the National Weather Service said in the advisory. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."

AccuWeather meteorologists said temperatures can get low enough in this region to threaten vegetation as a cold fronts sweep south from Canada. "While it may be the last frosts and freezes of the cold season for some ahead of a big warmup to end the month, precautions will need to be taken to protect any sensitive vegetation into this week," the weather agency said.

"If you started your plants in pots, it would be a good idea to bring them indoors the next couple of nights," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski. "If you are not able to do so, cover up your veggies and flowers with a blanket or tarp to protect them from a frost or freezing temperatures."
