Furloughed At Home With Pet? Local Inn Giving Away Free Pet Baths

Government workers can get a free bath for their pet at Fieldstone Animal Clinic in Millersville thanks to a special promotion.

A local pet inn is giving government workers a break from the federal closure drama with free baths for their furry friends.

Fieldstone Animal Inn in Millersville began the promotional deal Tuesday with a post on the Patch Boards, the day thousands of government workers were furloughed.

Anna Torres-Radle, owner of the clinic, said she was trying to turn her own frustration at the federal closure into something positive.

"I was so tempted after reading rants online that I started to write something negative myself," Torres-Radle said. "But rather than do that, I thought, 'I'm just going to think of what we can do as specials for people affected by this.'"

Politics never enters her business, but Torres-Radle's husband is a Department of Defense employee, as are a large number of her customers.

This hits home for thousands of people in the county, she said.

And they'll be staying home more with their pets, so why not give them a little extra treat?

"I guess I'm just an optimistic person, and this is just my way of raising awareness about the problem without being negative about it," she said.

Government workers just have to show their ID to Fieldstone Animal Inn employees to get a free pet bath for their pet. Proof of pet vaccinations will also be required upon or before pet's entry.
