Anne Arundel County Youth Stuns Animal Shelter With Huge Donation

A young girl named Emersyn has earned the nickname Santa Beast for the massive amount of donations she gathered up for the animals at SPCA.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The SPCA of Anne Arundel County continuously has been blessed with the generosity of strangers. But one particular spunky little girl has shown just how important the animals at the shelter are to her.

Emersyn asked her family and Santa to help out the animals who call the shelter home. Recently, she delivered all of those gifts to the shelter before settling down to read to the animals. Her loot included more than 500 pounds of dog food, 12 cans of cat food, 36 blankets, 15 leashes, 10 beds, two self-warming beds, a pop-up pet playpen and an endless stream of toys.

Volunteers at the shelter have been so impressed by Emersyn's generosity that they had three bags of food waiting at the shelter for her to add to her donation. An estimated $240 had been generated online, too.

Her parents' nickname for her, Beast, has since been modified by the shelter to "Santa Beast." Shelter officials also had some advice for everyone.

"Want to make the world a better place? Be an Emersyn," the shelter shared on its Facebook page.
