Heat Advisory Issued for Central Maryland

A heat advisory is in effect through 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Tuesday for central Maryland.

The advisory is in effect from noon through 7 p.m., as temperatures in the region are expected to reach the mid 90s, with heat indices that could reach 105.

If you expect to be outside for extended periods today, local officials advise staying hydrated, limiting activities to the morning or early evening and staying out of direct sunlight, if possible. Patient First spokesman David Clark also shared tips on his Patch blog.

In a release Tuesday, Baltimore Gas & Electric officials advised that customers avoid high energy costs by managing thermostat temperature, using fans and running appliances in the early morning or evening hours, when it will be cooler. Officials advised keeping blinds and doors shut to reduce indoor heat.
