New Schools Superintendent to Lay Out Capital Budget Sept. 11

School board members will review the upcoming capital budget at a work session.

Anne Arundel Board of Education members will meet to work out the details of the upcoming fiscal year's capital budget in a public workshop at 2 p.m. Sept. 11.

At the meeting, board members will get a preview of the capital budget from Interim Superintendent Mamie Perkins, who took over as head of schools from Kevin Maxwell in August.

Of the two school system budgets, the capital budget mostly consists of construction projects. The operating budget, which includes teacher salaries, is normally unveiled in December.

The budget workshop is open to the public, but no testimony will be taken, according to a press release. A public hearing will be held on the budget Sept. 25.
