The Volunteer Center is making a difference in multiple ways:
- We are actively reaching out to over 350 nonprofits in the area to help them identify volunteer needs and support recruitment efforts.
- We train the community on a variety of non-profit issues and volunteer management.
- The AACVC organizes important and meaningful volunteer events, such as Martin Luther King Day of Service, 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, Save the Bay/Comcast Cares Day and Military Spotlight events.
- We encourage students to take advantage of local volunteer opportunities, offering specific support for students who want to participate in meaningful activities.
- In the event of an emergency in Annapolis or Anne Arundel County, we are available and have been trained to support volunteer coordination and relief efforts.
- Volunteer groups and individuals are recognized for their efforts, including an annual “Hall of Fame” awards luncheon.

Is there a specific category of volunteer work that is a priority?
We are particularly concerned with supporting programs that provide “Safety Net” services. For instance, this is the eighth year we have partnered with the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services to recruit hundreds of volunteers for Homeless Resource Day, which just took place on March 28.
