'Boom' Sparks Investigation In Anne Arundel County: What To Know

A loud "boom" drew fire investigators in Anne Arundel County. The ATF is examining items from the scene of the possible explosion.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — There were no injuries or damage after a "boom" was reported Wednesday in a Glen Burnie industrial complex. The cause of the boom remains unknown, and some items found at the scene are under investigation.

Crews were called to the 700 block of East Ordnance Road around 2:30 p.m. First responders checked the surrounding area but found no fire or threats.

"There is no danger or hazardous materials out there," Firefighter/Paramedic Don Clime of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department told Patch. "There is no danger to public safety at this time."

Investigators examined some "items that needed looking into," Clime said.

Clime said he couldn't give more details on those items. He also couldn't speculate what caused the boom.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating. The Anne Arundel County Police Department and the Annapolis Fire Department also responded.

"They took some items for further investigation. At this time, it's ongoing," Clime said.
