What are Pasadena Leaders Thankful for This Year?

Patch talks to public figures who share their reflections on life and the community in honor of Thanksgiving.

Everyone's thankful for something during Thanksgiving. Recently, Pasadena Patch talked to various public figures in the community to find out what they're thankful for this year.

"I am so thankful for the brave men and women who served in our armed forces enabling all of us to live in peace and enjoy the freedoms of this great country we call America," said Sen. Bryan Simonaire, (R-Pasadena).

"I am thankful for all of the new businesses that have opened up in Pasadena lately," said Delegate Nic Kipke, (R-Pasadena). "The Greene Turtle, Two Rivers Steak & Seafood, the rebirth of , , and others are something I am really grateful for. I also appreciate that these are local Maryland companies and not great big national chains. Our community takes great pride in supporting small business and we welcome these new additions."

"I'm thankful for family," said Mike Jacobs, president of the Pasadena Business Association. "I've got six children—when I look around, see the kids and how they're involved in youth sports and the community, I'm thankful for how the kids have grown up so far. I've got all ages from 22 down to 6. It's just really heartwarming when you look around the table and see the family at Thanksgiving time."

“This year I’m thankful for a thriving business, being a part of a great community in Pasadena, and my beautiful 12-week-old daughter, Rose," said Angela Balsamo, a member of the Pasadena Business Association Board of Directors. "Pasadena is such a vibrant community and I’m so thankful to live here and operate a thriving business here. I couldn’t imagine living and working anywhere else!”
