During the period Oct. 16-23, AVFD received 76 calls for medical and fire-rescue service, including the following:
Oct. 18: 1t 12:36 a.m., a fire alarm activation was reported at Giant Food, 4622 Wilkens Avenue in Catonsville. Crews from the AVFD responded to find a broken water pipe, but no fire.

Oct. 18: At 12:52 p.m., a brush fire was reported on the 5500-block of Shelbourne Road in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD responded and extinguished a small leaf fire.
Oct. 18: At 11:15 p.m., an overdose was reported at UMBC. Crews from the AVFD and Catonsville career station responded. One seriously ill person was taken to a local hospital.

Oct. 19: At 10:56 p.m., a building fire was reported on the 4700-block of Westland Boulevard in Arbutus. Crews from the AVFD and Halethorpe career station responded to find a small stovetop fire that had self-extinguished.
Oct. 20: at 12:30 p.m., an injured subject was reported at the Avalon area of Patapsco State Park in Halethorpe. Crews from the AVFD responded. One seriously injured person was rescued from a trail and taken to a local hospital.
