Fussy Gussy Pet Sitting is new in town! Do you know why hiring a professional pet sitter is a great idea for you and your pets? You should.

Hi! I’m Lindsay, and I’m the owner and manager of Fussy Gussy Pet Sitting, LLC. I’m new in town, and based in northern Anne Arundel County (Linthicum, to be precise). I provide full service, reliable pet sitting and dog walking for vacationers, busy professionals on the go, and those of you who just need a break or a helping hand!

A lot of people have been asking me what a pet sitter does and why I chose to start this business. If you’re curious as well, read on while I answer some FAQs and explain how helpful a pet sitter can be.

I’m a professional pet sitter. That means I come to your home when you are unavailable to care for your pet, and I give them all the love and care they need. This includes feeding, fresh water, treats, waste cleanup, and of course walks, playtime, and lots of TLC. It can also include staying overnight or taking your pet to the vet or groomer. Moreover, I take care of watering your plants, rotating your lights, bringing in your mail and newspapers, and taking out the trash if you’d like!

-Why should pet owners use a professional pet sitter?

Getting your pets - and their food, blankets, medicine, and toys - to the kennel is time-consuming and stressful for both you and your pet. So is making arrangements for watering your plants, checking the mail, and rotating the lights when you’re gone. And let’s not mention leaving the office mid-day, driving home to walk Fido or check on that new puppy, and driving back to work. A professional pet sitter gives that precious time and peace of mind back to you! And your happy pets get to stay where they are the most comfortable: the familiar surroundings of home.

Also, caring for your pet and giving him our undivided attention is not an imposition to a pet sitter - it’s our livelihood to provide you with peace of mind while you’re away. A pet sitter comes to your home ready with detailed information about your home, your pet’s needs and routines, and what to do in case of an emergency. (By the way, a great pet sitter should be trained in Pet First Aid and CPR, and also bonded, insured, and background checked. After all, you’re trusting him or her to enter your home and care for your fur babies.)

Besides making sure your pets get food and water while you are away, how about some fun and exercise, too? Mid-day walks keep your pets happy and healthy, improve their digestion, and reduce destructive, unruly, and restless behavior.

-Why did you start this business?

I love animals and love to do work that helps others, so really, I’m doing something that makes me really happy. Let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Baltimore County with three guinea pigs, a huge goldfish tank, and a fantastically stubborn Westie. Today, I dote on my two rambunctious cats, Frankie and Gus.

Yes, Gus is fussy! (Just today the vet told me he might need Prozac. Oh, my sweet baby.) He inspired me to start Fussy Gussy Pet Sitting. Gus is very particular about where he likes to eat his food, the toys he chooses to play with, the amount of litter in the box… I could go on. He’s my silly, shy, lovable boy. The first time I was scheduled to travel after adopting Gus, I knew that boarding him would cause him a lot of stress and anxiety. He really needed to be at home where he was comfortable and not surrounded by strange animals in a strange place. A friend recommended her pet sitter to me. Not only was hiring a pet sitter much more affordable than boarding my cats, it also afforded me wonderful peace of mind. My pets got one-on-one attention and care from a sitter who knew their routines, they stayed in a familiar environment with their own beds and toys, and they even got some snuggles! I loved receiving updates from her while I was away. So I know firsthand the value a pet sitter brings to my own home and my pets.

I am so excited to help my community by doing something I love! If you want to learn more about Fussy Gussy Pet Sitting or schedule some visits for your pets, please visit my website at www.fussygussypetsitting.com.
