The Road Scholar: Leeds Avenue and MARC Station
An update on infrastructure projects in the Arbutus area.
The resurfacing of Leeds Avenue is complete, including the painting of the center yellow double line. For the first time, Leeds has sidewalks on both sides, curbs and storm drains, and driveway aprons. The street can be walked without fear of encountering puddles and mudholes.
However, the project to resurface East Drive, which on the heels of the Leeds Avenue project, has yet to materialize.
At the MARC Halethorpe Station, the two 700-foot elevated platforms are completed. The framework for the awning is in place, and work is beginning on the two elevator-equipped towers that will allow access across the tracks.
