The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said six people were inside the home at the start of the fire in Southern Maryland. Two dogs also died in the blaze.
Two women and two other children escaped the burning house and were flown to Washington Hospital for injuries, according to local news site The BayNet.

The adults were identified by The BayNet as property owner Autumn Bowles, her two children and Davis. The two children's names have not been released, but officials said they are under the age of six.
The victims were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine their exact cause of death.
Maryland's fire marshal Brian S. Geraci said there were no working smoke alarms in the home. The fire caused about $150,000 in damages.
"I saw lights shining in my window and I looked out and saw the whole house was fully engulfed," neighbor Joseph Bailey told The BayNet. "The flames were twice as tall as the house."
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire. The state fire marshal's office and the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office are conducting a joint investigation.
A GoFundMe page was created by the victims' uncle. As of Tuesday morning, close to $8,000 has been raised out of the $50,000 goal.
"If you can help with any donation amount it will be greatly appreciated, as they have lost everything," the page says. "The amount raised will go towards the funeral expenses for theses beautiful babies and to Kelsey's medical expenses. I thank each and everyone of you in advance for your help and generosity."
