Ex Kills Federal Hill Woman, Posts Video Warning Of 2 More Deaths

A Hanover man posted a video before he died that he killed his ex-girlfriend and was about to shoot his ex-wife and himself.

BALTIMORE, MD — A woman killed in Federal Hill Saturday afternoon was the first fatality in what became a triple homicide case that spanned Baltimore City and Howard County, according to police. All three deaths occurred in the course of an hour, and the man responsible reportedly posted a Facebook live video between shooting his ex-girlfriend and his ex-wife.

Tara Labang, 41, of Baltimore, was fatally shot in the 1500 block of Marshall Street, the Baltimore Police Department reported Monday.

Police said they were called at 1:37 p.m. Saturday for a report of an alarm at the home on Marshall Street, where officers noticed signs of forced entry at the Federal Hill residence.

Labang was unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police, who said medics pronounced her deceased.

After Labang was killed, police said her boyfriend — Rajaee Shareef Black, 44 — went to Columbia and killed his ex-wife. Black lived in the 7600 block of Ironworks Way in Hanover, officials said.

Between the two shootings, the Baltimore Sun reported he posted a video on Facebook saying: "I just shot my ex girlfriend in the head." He said his ex-girlfriend was pregnant and threatened to not let him see his child once the baby was born, according to the Sun, which reported he has been embroiled in a custody dispute with his ex-wife as well for the past several years.

Next, Black said in the video, he was going to shoot his ex-wife and himself, because he did not want to go to prison.

"We learned that he was headed to Howard County to do the very same thing to another person," Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison reported in a media briefing on Saturday. "We shared that information immediately when we got it."

It was too late.

At 2:22 p.m., officers in Baltimore City alerted Howard County authorities about the social media post, according to Howard County police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn, who said the suspect and his ex-wife were found deceased.

Wendy Natalie Black, 42, was found shot and killed in the 7300 block of Eden Brook Drive in Columbia before 2:15 p.m., according to the Howard County Police Department. Officers were called to the area at 2:07 p.m. for shots fired and arrived at 2:14 p.m., Llewellyn said.

The Blacks were in the vestibule of an apartment building, Llewellyn said, noting the suspect shot and killed the woman before fatally shooting himself.

Officers also found the Blacks' two young children in Rajaee Black's gray BMW X3 in the parking lot of the apartment complex, where they said the children did not see the violence.

"The children have been placed in a safe environment and did not witness the incident," the Howard County Police Department reported.

The Blacks and Labang were all nurses, according to the Baltimore Sun, which reported Wendy Black worked for Howard County General Hospital; Labang worked for the University of Maryland Capital Region Health; and Rajaee Black had worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Capital Region Health. Labang also worked at St. Agnes, according to WJZ.
