BALTIMORE, MD — While Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs won't be as icy as the Ravens' AFC divisional playoff win against the Houston Texans a week ago, the weather at M&T Bank Stadium is expected to be cold, gusty for the 3 p.m. kickoff, according to the Weather Channel.

Temperatures are expected to by in the 40s, rather than in the upper 20s fans experienced during last Saturday's game in Baltimore, the Weather Channel reports. However, a low pressure system moving up the mid-Altantic Coast could produce periods of rain and gusty wins throughout the region.

Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature of 67 and a low of 44 in the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday will likely start out partly sunny but then switch over to rain during the evening hours, according to NWS. The wet weather will continue throughout the day on Sunday. Breezy weather will accompany the rain.

For most along the Interstate 95 corridor, it will be another chilly rain from Washington to Baltimore to Philadelphia to New York, said AccuWeather meteorologists. Combined with recent heavy rain, a temperature spike and snowmelt that has caused area rivers and streams to run high, the rainfall could renew the threat of flooding.

"The final round of rain expected beginning on Sunday may not produce eye-popping rain totals," said Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. "Despite that, it can still be enough to increase the risk of flooding."

As the AFC's No. 1 seed, the Ravens will host the championship game for the first time in more than 50 years. This is the fifth time the Ravens have made the semifinal round of the NFL play-offs since their arrival in Baltimore.

Mother Nature must be an NFC fan, because the weather for the championship game between the Detroit Lions and host San Francisco 49ers is expected to be fine.
