American Legion Post 39 In Bel Air To Reopen Tuesday
The American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air is scheduled to reopen with modifications in place starting Tuesday.
BEL AIR, MD—Following its closure during the coronavirus pandemic, the American Legion Post 39 in Bel Air is scheduled to reopen with modifications in place starting Tuesday.
According to the legion, its hours of operation will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
There will be full bar service but with slightly modified kitchen service, the legion announced.

Masks must be worn when entering until seated and any time standing, according to the legion.
The kitchen will be open for service with a slightly modified menu. No groups larger than six people may be seated together.

"We are super excited to see each and every one of you," the legion posted on its official Facebook page. "Please remember to be cautious of your health and safety of others. Your mask will be required to enter the building and to and from restrooms."

New Venue For Entertainment
On June 17, demolition of the Tiki Bar area began to make way for a new entertainment stage. According to the legion, this project will be completed in two stages. Stage one will involve demolishing and installing a raised stage to allow for entertainment and meetings. The outlets for lighting and sound as well as a new storage closet will be installed. In phase two, the legion will install additional lighting and sound systems. The bidding process has been initiated and once completed will be presented to the membership and project list for approval to establish a timeline for completion.
Post Meetings
All regularly scheduled meetings will take place at the post. The GOTOMEET invitations will be suspended until further notice, according to the legion. The next regularly scheduled meeting is July 8 and starts at 7 p.m.
Elections
The American Legion, Harford Post No. 39 has begun accepting nominations for the Commander, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice and 3rd Vice Commanders, Adjutant, Finance Officer, Judge Advocate, Sergeant of Arms and Two (2) members at large who will have voting positions on the Post No. 39 Executive Committee. Members nominated for the above positions must accept their nomination verbally at the time of appointment.
The nominations are expected to be closed during the July 8 regular meeting and the Judge Advocate will conduct a vote on Aug. 12. Only Harford Post No. 39 current, paid members will be permitted to attend the meeting and participate in the nomination and election of Post officers and Executive Committee members.
